  1. Martin Haszard says:

We recently bought Three Sheets, hull number 32. The boat is currently in Marmaris Turkey and we plan to sail her back to Sydney Australia over the next few years. Three Sheets is looking good and will be even better once we have completed some maintenance work over the next few months.

  2. Court Rawson says:

Re Lafitte 44 Cutter SV Another View, hull 55, HIN LFT4405501085, currently in the Washington DC area: Provided her prepurchase survey isn’t too dire, we plan to spend the next couple of years refitting her before setting off on what might be her first circumnavigation.

    1. courtlandar says:

Update: We’ve renamed the vessel Dream Weaver, and have so far replaced the standing and running rigging and had a six-sail suit sewn for her.

  3. Andrew Porter says:

I bought #18, PKE440180480 : Sea Host in 2013. It has been renamed S/V Baloo and is currently still in Honolulu, HI. The previous owners kept her in immaculate condition and I am just trying to keep up with their uncanny attention to detail. I couldn’t be happier with boat.

  4. Tree says:

I don’t know if the owner has changed, but a group of guys is sailing #47 Cool Change around Central and South American right now. They can be found on the youtube by searching Sea Change. They have some pretty impressive cinematic shots of a Lafitte in action.

Also, hull #43 is now Molotov Máirín and is sailing around PNW.

  5. tomlane26gmailcom says:

We purchased #02 in 1989 and renamed her Rally Point; since then she has sailed the east coast principally from Maine to the Chesapeake. She participated in offshore races including Marion Bermuda; Halifax, and others. A wonderful off shore boat. This will be her third season in the Bahamas. Currently home ported at Masons Island CT.

  6. Lorenzo lewis says:

    Dear fellow LaFitter’s

any thoughts on where one can get a complete overall done. The boat is currently located in Manila. she can be sailed almost anywhere … I would love to do it see if I can do a refit in Taiwan since she was born there… any thoughts on this?

    1. Robert Engle says:

  7. Steven Agee says:

    Hi,

I am Steven Agee, and one of my several Children’s Trusts owns MARIEL No. 42., She was formerly THISTLE. I bought her and sailed her from near Annapolis to Bermuda, all through the Caribbean, Panama, Galapagos, Marquis, Tonga, and to NZ. She was never ever for sale for the price you show. She is for sale however as MARIEL is most likely the best kept LaFitte in the world her aking price is NZ$260,000.00 Absolutely pristine and new low hrs. Lombardini engine. My contact is exper431@aol.com, or phone + 64 865 6229. An absolutely wonderful yacht and I have many spares and extras.

    Kindest Regards,

    Steven Agee

Hi, Update on Hull #25: Name is spelled : Engle

    Renamed the boat: Black Knight
Boat is currently berthed in Southport NC.
    Total refit in 2015

    1. Lorenzo Ward says:

Dear Robert: I read you had a total refit and ma curious about your experience. I am considering the purchase of a Lafitte 44 based in Turkey. The boat looks tidy but i need to understand what would be involved, so your experience would help. Did you have issues with Osmosis? Did you have a teak deck to replace or recaulk? did you have engine overhaul issues. Any guidance on what you did and what kind of budget you spen on it would be much appreciated. They look great boats. Regards, Lorenzo

  9. Jim Collister says:

I bought a Lafitte 44 in August 2015 and am researching her history. According to the Coast Guard documentation, the hull # is AB44L101D388. It does not match any format above. The year built is claimed to be 1989 but CG docs have “Unknown”. I believe it is the SV Brower listed above as there is a call sign placard at the nav station with a South African call sign. The name on the placard is “Brouwer”.

A log book with a start date of 12/2001 has the name listed as “Highlander”. The previous owner had changed the name to “Going Dutch” then to “Love and Laugh”.

I am changing the name again, Love and Laugh is too “Chick” sounding. She is currently being documented as “Timbuk II” with a hailing port of Norfolk, VA.

If anyone can provide some tips in researching her, I would be grateful.

    1. Robert says:

Good luck Jim! Sounds like a fun puzzle to solve. We are just south of you in Southport NC. I just finished a total refit of our Lafitte (1981). Always looking to share if needed.

  10. Rich Gleason says:

    1. Royal R Faubion says:

I was original owner of #4 which I fitted out in Chicago and kept at the Chicago Yacht Club summertime. Then out the St Lawrence sailing to Ft Lauderdale a few times and Bermuda and beyond… all single hand. Lost in bankruptcy…

  14. Tim Smith says:

  18. Larry Knudson says:

My wife and I have recently completed a thorough survey (including a full engine survey) on hull #13 currently named Mister Ed. We will be closing within the next week and will be returning her to her original name of “Spellbound”. She is currently berthed in San Leandro, Ca however we will be sailing her down to her permanent home in Moss Landing, Ca within the next month. We will be refitting her over the next 5-10 years while sailing her regularly along the California coast ranging from San Francisco Bay to Morro Bay. At that time she will become our full time liveaboard with the intention of long distance cruising and a potential circumnavigation.

  19. Janet Payne says:

We can’t afford to spend too long making them look nice.

  29. Monte Junker says:

I currently own LaFitte 44, haul #3, Synegry. She was sailed to the Marshall Islands in the 1990’s and then was hauled out for a refit that took 13 to 14 years. She has been back in the water for the past 3. She is a great boat to sail, very stable and nicely appointed. I am hoping to sail her out of here in a couple of years.
